THE JUDGES ARE OUT!

Last Tuesday three judges in the Calor Gas Yorkshire Village of the Year competition visited Bishop Monkton  and were treated to a presentation and exhibition at the Village Hall concluding with a whistle-stop tour of the village. Our aim was to explain to the judges why we think  Bishop Monkton is so special

During the  next few days the judges will also be visiting the other finalists

in the competition, namely Middleton Tyas, Newton-le-Willows, Spofforth,

Stillington and West Burton.

The exhibition at the Village Hall was kept open on Wednesday and visited

by a number of people who had missed the earlier event.

The winner of the overall prize of £1,000 and trophy and the four category prizes of £500 each will be kept secret until an awards night on

September 18.

Where's that pot of gold?

The good people of Hungate were

thinking they'd struck gold when the rainbow pointed to a source or wealth at the end of their road during a recent storm passing over the village.
