Youngsters learn lessons the fun way
BIG SMILES: The 40 youngsters who attended this week's Holiday Club.
|
Forty youngsters, aged from 4 to 11, attended the Holiday Club, organised and run by a dedicated team from the Methodist Church. The annual event took in the Village Hall.
The idea of the four days was to teach children about Jesus through stories, drama, crafts, songs and games - while all having a lot of fun.
The Holiday Club, which has been running for a number of years, proved as popular as ever this week with the children.
A tremendous lot of hard work went into organising the event, ably led by Isobel Wilson. She has received wonderful help and support from Rev. Stuart Ellis, Ruth Abel, Angie Archbold, Gloria Baker, Gillian Smith, Susan Stead, Vicky Wild and Elizabeth Wilkinson.
She also wants to thank an excellent group of teenagers who formerly attended the camp but are now too old, but were keen to return and lend a hand. They are: Emma Archbold, Katie Ash, Matthew Ash, Cheska Coward, Kate Eden, Freya Higgins, Kate Hadley, Georgina Letts, Sam Letts, Chloe McKeone, Amy Smith, Oliver Smith, Hannah Waddington and Sam Waddington.
She would also like to thank all the many other people who have contributed to the success of the event with daily help, providing and serving refreshments, and also for the loan of equipment, etc.
There will be a Holiday Club service at the Methodist Church at 10 45am on Sunday, August 24.
All are welcome to come and see the children's work they have produced at the club. Coffee, squash and biscuits will be served after the service., |
RAPT ATTENTION: What is holding the children's attention so keenly? ....
...... A DRAMA with a Bible theme. Episodes are performed daily by Angie and Rebecca Archbold, Rebecca Abel and Roger Baker.
TEENAGERS, who used to attend the Holiday Club, returned this week to help. |

One is for flower arrangement which is planned to take place in the Methodist Chapel schoolroom, proably from 1 to 3pm each Thursday. The other course being planned is an introduction to reflexology. Both will be run by Susan Stead, who has teaguht at Harrogate and Ripon college for many years.
