Emma joins Parish Council

Emma Oates was welcomed as a new parish councillor to the meeting of Bishop Monkton Council. She was appointed following an uncontested election.

The Council heard from Khyati Vaughan of Harogate District Council that Bishop Monkton would be required to provide six affordable homes each year between 2006 and 2011.

Some of the homes will be for rental (at £70-£75 per week) and other will sell on low cost home ownership at say 50% or %60 of market price. When these homes are resold they would sell at the same discount.

The Council discussed the new proposed outlined in the Conservation Area draft proposal 2008.  The only amendment they sought was that the new proposed conservation area should include Anchor House on Boroughbridge Road.

Thanks were expressed to David Venables for his efforts to get the new VAD signs sited.
